Welcome to Colin Thornby’s website.

Colin is a spiritual director, or soul friend, in the Christian tradition. Colin is located in Victoria, in Australia. He welcomes directees who are located anywhere in the world, as he is comfortable directing using electronic mediums such as email and Skype (online spiritual direction).

A soul friend is one who walks alongside another who is making the spiritual journey. The role of the soul friend is to help the seeker to discern the movements of God in their life – not to tell them what to do, but rather to assist them as a guide assists one who is making a journey.

Whilst Colin feels called to walk alongside anyone who is making the spiritual journey, he has a special affirming ministry to gay, lesbian, transgendered and bisexual people. Colin has experience working with those who are terminally ill, mentally ill, hurt by the church and church people, and those for whom God is a fearful or alien presence.

Colin comes out of the Anglican Christian tradition, but is comfortable working with people from any Christian tradition, or from outside it.
